Join Jeff Phenix (over 20 years yoga teaching experience and has also trained yoga teachers for many years – see more details below) for a special transformative and inspirational yoga retreat in sunny Goa. His depth of understanding and seriously playful approach will inspire you to safely and skillfully explore working peacefully at the appropriate ‘edge’ of your abilities and deepen and improve your yoga, pranayama and meditation practice.
Jeff is used to dealing with a wide range of abilities at the same time – keeping all levels of yoga students from the more novice to super experienced (and even yoga teachers) happy! As opposed to a ‘yoga holiday’ where people will be coming and going at different times and even the teacher can change – with this dedicated retreat week – we will all work together, slowly building up and exploring different areas and facets of the practice, with a varied and interesting program of sessions that builds systematically over the week.
Set amidst abundant tropical floara and fauna, behind the sweepingly beautiful and unspoiled Mandrem beach in North Goa – Ashiyana retreat is a lush tropical garden sanctuary and a deeply nurturing space where you can relax your body, calm your mind and reconnect to your sacred inner sense of self with our mindful practice. Enjoy delicious and healthy food, indulge yourself with a massage, soak up the sun – enjoying the beach and sea, curl up with a book, check out the hip and happening North Goan scene including colourful markets and ecstatic dancing, make new friends and return home feeling recharged and rejuvenated having beaten the winter blues. There is something really special about practicing yoga in India and this is truly one of the best yoga retreats in Goa that Jeff has been coming to since 2013!
“Deciding to go away for the first time, on my own to a yoga retreat where I didn’t know anyone else turned out to be one of the best decisions I ever made! My week on your yoga retreat really was one of the best experiences of my life” Sarah

“This was the best yoga retreat in Goa or anywhere else that I have ever been on. Everything about the yoga holiday was perfect, just stunning… the venue (Ashiyana), the teaching, people and food – an excellent and amazing experience with a warm and generous teacher. It couldn’t have been better!” Cathy
“As a teacher myself I’m proud to call Jeff one of my teachers. He is so skilled and embodied in offering a complete and expansive practice, whatever your level. Morning practice – The long morning practice will be a dynamic, creative, playful and explorative ‘deep slow flow’ asana practice and will include meditation and pranayama. By emphasizing the breath, mindfulness & skillful action and building up through a range of appropriate options – students, from the less experienced to the more advanced, will discover how to work peacefully at the level appropriate to them.
Free time – Relax, chill, curl up with a book, sunbathe, enjoy the beach, have a massage, go shopping etc!
Late afternnoon – The afternoon session will be a mellower, soothing and nurturing practice, delving into areas such as yin yoga, restoratives, pranayama, chakras, yoga nidra and meditation. This will totally bliss you out!
We finish in time to watch the sun go down and maybe even indulge in a sunset swim!
INSTRUCTORS
Jeff Phenix
Jeff was a keen sportsman growing up, always enjoying that sense of ‘getting in the zone’- being totally absorbed and at one with what you are doing so that the sense of the separate self dissolves away. So it was a profound experience when he discovered yoga and meditation in India in the mid 90’s – loving how it made him feel and how he experienced the world and himself in a different way.
Jeff has been teaching for over 20 years – since 2002. His unique teaching style is a woven tapestry inspired by his personal experience and studies with many amazing yoga teachers from a wide range of yoga schools but mainly vinyasa flow, Iyengar, Anusara, Viniyoga, Jivamukti and Satyananda yoga. He enjoys being creative with sequencing and postures, and loves incorporating pranayama meditation and the traditional spirituality and philosophy of yoga into his teaching.
As a yoga teacher, he want to awaken his students’ sense of bliss and wonder and help them become more at peace and ease with themselves and the world. He has trained students on teacher training courses for over 10 years, initially with triyoga and then Yoga West in London. He is a director of Phenix Yoga Ltd, through which he offers yoga classes in London & South Bucks and Berks and workshops and retreats in the UK and around the world.
